The Sindh Government has announced a major step toward improving transparency in the education sector by introducing an AI-powered attendance system for teachers and school staff.
The initiative is being launched under the supervision of Syed Sardar Ali Shah, who has directed the School Education Department to ensure its smooth implementation across the province.
Under this new system, attendance will no longer rely on manual registers or basic biometric devices. Instead, teachers will mark their attendance through a mobile application that uses facial recognition technology to verify identity.
To make the system more secure, geo-fencing will also be used. This means staff will only be able to mark their attendance if they are physically present within the school premises, reducing chances of fake or proxy attendance.
The system, known as βFRAMES,β will first register and verify all teaching and non-teaching staff. This digital profiling will create a complete database, which will then be used for daily attendance tracking.
Officials say a centralized dashboard will allow education authorities to monitor attendance in real time. From district officers to senior officials, everyone will be able to track staff presence, identify absenteeism patterns, and take timely action where needed.
A special committee has been formed to oversee the project, including data experts, HRMIS officials, and district education officers. Technical support teams will also be involved to handle system operations and resolve any issues during rollout.
According to the education minister, the main purpose of this system is to improve discipline and accountability in schools. He added that regular teacher attendance plays a key role in improving the quality of education and student performance.
The mobile app is currently in its final testing phase, and officials expect the system to be launched across the province soon after Eid holidays. If implemented successfully, this move could significantly improve monitoring and set a new standard for digital governance in education.
