The annual matriculation examinations 2026 have officially begun across Punjab today, with more than 250,000 students appearing on the first day under strict security arrangements.

According to education authorities, exams are being conducted at approximately 880 examination centres across the province. The first day includes papers in subjects such as Arabic, History, and Commercial Geography.


Sensitive Centres Identified

Authorities have declared several examination centres as sensitive, particularly in Lahore and surrounding districts.

  • 14 centres in Lahore placed under special monitoring

  • Additional centres flagged in Kasur, Sheikhupura, and Nankana Sahib

  • Extra security deployed to prevent cheating and ensure transparency


Strict Security Measures in Place

To maintain discipline and fairness, the Punjab government has implemented strict security protocols:

  • Enforcement of Section 144 around exam centres

  • Installation of CCTV cameras at key locations

  • Entry allowed only with valid roll number slips

  • Ban on mobile phones and unauthorized persons

  • Police deployment at examination venues

These measures aim to ensure a cheating-free and transparent examination process.


Exam Schedule & Next Phase

  • Matric exams will continue until April 16, 2026

  • 9th class exams will begin from April 17

  • Authorities have also introduced modern reforms like digital monitoring and stricter verification systems to improve exam integrity


Focus on Transparency

Officials emphasized that this year’s examinations are being conducted with enhanced monitoring systems to eliminate malpractice. Students are advised to follow rules strictly and arrive at centres on time with proper identification.
