Educational institutions in Islamabad will remain closed for four days, as authorities have announced local holidays in the federal capital on April 9 and 10.

With Thursday and Friday declared local holidays by the Islamabad administration, and Saturday and Sunday already falling on the weekend for most schools and colleges, students in the capital are set to get a four-day closure.

The decision was notified by the Office of the District Magistrate, Islamabad, which said the holidays would be observed within the revenue limits of the Islamabad Capital Territory. However, essential government offices and public service departments will continue functioning.

While the official notification does not specifically mention educational institutions, the closure effectively means schools and colleges in the capital will remain shut during this period.

The move comes amid heightened administrative and security arrangements in Islamabad ahead of expected high-level diplomatic activity later this week.

Pakistan is reportedly set to host talks between the United States and Iran in Islamabad following a reported two-week ceasefire between the two sides.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has also publicly welcomed the ceasefire and invited both sides to hold talks in the capital, giving Islamabad a key diplomatic role at a sensitive regional moment.
